FIRST STEPS

Tell us about your garden space.

Tell us what you are looking to achieve in your renovated garden. What are you planning on doing in the space? Will you be eating and entertaining or gardening with your kids? This is the chance to dream big, so don’t hold back!

How big is the area, and what is unique about it? Is it a roof deck, or a courtyard? A front garden in Brookline or a spacious back garden in Newton. Is it sunny or shady? Send along some photos and some approximate measurements.

List all of the major elements that you would like to incorporate into the project. Furniture, kitchen, hardscaping, water feature, specimen plants, a fire pit or pergola are all available during this stage of the project.

GARDEN BUDGET

What are you comfortable spending?

This is the most important point in the pre-planning stages of any project. It is hard to know what a full garden renovation costs when you have never done one before. It is important to ask yourself what you are completely comfortable spending on your project.

Once we know what the budget will be, we can design an outdoor oasis that will incorporate the items from your wish list that work within your budget. Believe it or not, the majority of the budget will be spent on the actual labor involved with getting the project installed. Exterior work is time-consuming and labor-intensive. We are building you a luxurious outdoor space that will last for years, it needs to be done right.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN PROCESS

It begins with a meeting.

Once we receive your ideas, measurements, photos and budget, we set up a virtual meeting to see if we are a good fit for your project. At this meeting we review the scope of the project, your timeframe and what we can give you within your budget.

At this point, we hope that the excitement has been building and we are all ready to begin work on your beautiful new space. We begin our design process by taking a design fee which runs between 15 and 20% of the budget. Design on larger projects include 3D models, plan views, plant palettes, and materials listings. Smaller projects include plan views, plant palettes and lists.

After the design has been finalized, a complete estimate is generated for building your new oasis.
